Phoenix Counselling

Jana Finlayson, M.A.

Why Counselling?

In life, there are times when we are at crossroads, or for some reason we disconnect from our true-selves. When help of family and friends is not enough and we silently suffer, support of a non-jugmental and open-minded counsellor can be life changing. In a safe space, in which everything is welcome, reconnect with your true-self and your inner wisdom. Confidentiality is guaranteed.

Therapeutic Approach

Everyone is unique and this will be reflected in every session. Counselling is about a genuine connection as well as cooperation. Because you are the expert on your own life, you are the leader. I am there to guide you, help you to help yourself, and most importantly, trust in yourself. I am a trauma informed counsellor and in my work with clients I use an integrative approach. This means that I incorporate different counselling approaches and methods, depending on individual needs, even though I mostly draw from the psychodynamic framework, parts work, Gestalt and Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Testimonies

"I truly enjoyed our sessions and I feel like they have had such a positive impact for me. Thank you for being so understanding and welcoming as that is all I could've wished for." - M.R.

"My experience with Jana has been so unique and eye opening. Jana is a compassionate therapist who combines empathy, understanding and kindness in her work. Jana creates a safe and welcoming environment in which I have personally been able to grow and learn tremendously in the time I spent having her as my therapist. She allowed space to be myself and express my feelings openly. She provided me with so many tools to work through my personal issues and I always felt uplifted and more confident with each and every session. Jana is a wonderful therapist to have on your side."  - Crystal Sheppard

About Me

My empathetic and sensitive nature, as well as a natural interest in psychology, has drawn me to the counselling field, which I am passionate about. Having experienced many life adversities and having lived in six different countries have helped me to become a more conscious, understanding, objective and compassionate person. Being helped by a mental heath professional when I was going through a difficult period in my life inspired me, when an opportunity arose, to help others too. I truly believe in the healing power of a non-judgmental and unconditional relationship, which I wish offer to you too.

On a more personal note, I am a proud mother of one child, who has become my best teacher, alongside my clients. Some of my interests include cycling, dancing, hiking, listening to music and reading. My spiritual needs are met through being in the present moment, practising daily meditation, and reading.
